- 1 bottle of tamarind sauce
- 4-5 garlic cloves, 3 lemongrass stalks, 1 ginger piece, 1-2 hot chili peppers
- 30ml of coconut milk
- Vegetable butter
- 2g of grated coconut (if available)
- Spices: Fish sauce, sugar, chili sauce, pepper, oyster sauce, seasoning oil
- 20g of peanuts
- 1 bunch of coriander for garnish
Ingredient Notes
- Choose fresh and good-smelling blood cockles when buying. Ask the seller to rinse off the mud outside, so it's easier to select fresh cockles. The average price of blood cockles is about 100,000 VND/kg.
- You can find the tamarind sauce bottle at markets, grocery stores or supermarkets. A small bottle weighs 280g and costs about 22,000 VND. If you don't buy this tamarind sauce bottle, you can buy a bag of tamarind or ripe tamarind fruit, crush it with hot water to extract the juice.
