How to Make Vietnamese Grilled Meat Dipping Sauce
The dipping sauce for grilled meat is just as important as the marinade; it determines the overall flavor of the dish. In this article, Cookbeo will share with you two recipes for making delicious grilled meat dipping sauce, just as good as what you'd find at a restaurant.
Ingredients
- Sesame oil
- Oyster sauce
- Tomato ketchup
- Chili sauce
- Sugar
- Margarine
- Toasted sesame seeds
Instructions
Make Grilled Meat Dipping Sauce
To make enough dipping sauce for 4 people, mix the following ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 3 tablespoons chili sauce
- 2 tablespoons tomato ketchup
- 1/3 - 1/2 tablespoon sugar, depending on your preference for sweetness
- 1 teaspoon margarine
Stir well and simmer this mixture over low heat. This dipping sauce has a rich and fragrant flavor, similar to Korean BBQ dipping sauce.
Once the sauce comes to a boil, remove it from the heat and pour it into a bowl. If you have toasted sesame seeds, sprinkle a little on top, and stir well before serving.
Alternative Method
Besides the Korean BBQ dipping sauce mentioned above, a simple and convenient option is to mix a chili-lemon-pepper seasoning to serve with grilled meat, which is also very tasty.
To make this, simply mix:
- 1 tablespoon seasoning powder (such as Hảo Hảo seasoning salt)
- Fresh chili
- 1/2 tablespoon lemon juice or 1 tablespoon calamansi juice
Chili-lemon-pepper seasoning is also a great match for grilled meat
Stir well and optionally sprinkle some ground pepper.
