- 250g beef
- 350g assorted bell peppers
- 130g onion
- 5-6 garlic cloves, 1 piece of ginger
- 3-4 celery stalks
- 1 chili pepper (optional)
- Salt
- Seasoning: broth powder, MSG, oyster sauce, sugar, ground pepper, fish sauce
Instructions
Marinate the Beef
Slice the beef thinly and marinate it with:
- 1/2 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 teaspoon broth powder
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon cooking oil
For stir-fried beef dishes, it’s recommended to use the tenderloin flap, which has a slight fat and tendon content, giving it a chewy texture without being dry when stir-fried.
Prepare Other Ingredients
Rinse the bell peppers thoroughly in salted water, remove the seeds and core, and cut them into small square pieces or thin slices as preferred.
Bell peppers have a sweet, crisp taste with a slight tang and are very healthy. When stir-fried, they add vibrant colors to the dish.
Peel the onion and cut it into squares like the bell peppers, or slice it into thin wedges.
Cut the celery into 2cm pieces. Slice the chili pepper diagonally.
Mince the garlic and ginger. These will be used later to stir-fry the beef and bell peppers for added fragrance.
Cook the Stir-Fried Beef with Bell Peppers
Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a pan, sauté the ginger and half of the minced garlic until fragrant. Then, add the beef and stir-fry over high heat.
Stir-fry the beef quickly until it turns from red to light pink, then remove it from the pan and set it aside.
Next, heat 2 tablespoons of oil in the pan and sauté the remaining minced garlic. Add the bell peppers and stir-fry for about 15 seconds, then add the onions.
Like with the beef, stir-fry the bell peppers and onions over high heat to ensure they are just cooked through, keeping their crunch and vibrant color.
Once the bell peppers and onions are coated with oil, season with broth powder, oyster sauce, and a small pinch of MSG.
After seasoning, stir-fry for another 20 seconds until the peppers and onions are slightly tender. Then, return the beef to the pan, add a little fish sauce for extra flavor and aroma, and toss in the celery and chili peppers. Stir-fry for an additional 10-15 seconds before removing from heat. Optionally, sprinkle some ground pepper on top.
