How to Roast Peanuts in an Air Fryer
Roasting peanuts in an air fryer at the right temperature and time results in perfectly crispy, dry peanuts that stay fresh for longer. It's also incredibly convenient, as you don't need to constantly stir and monitor them.
Ingredients
- 150g raw peanuts (white or red peanuts)
- Air fryer
- Newspaper or cloth bag for resting the peanuts
Ingredient Notes
Choose peanuts that are large and uniform in size, removing any moldy or damaged nuts as well as any debris. For extra caution, sift the peanuts to remove any small stones or impurities before roasting.
If you need to keep the skins on, such as when making garlic chili roasted peanuts, peanut sesame salt, or Hung Lieu spiced roasted peanuts, it's a good idea to rinse the peanuts (groundnuts) to remove any dust, then let them dry before roasting.

Roasting Peanuts in an Air Fryer
The key to perfectly roasted peanuts is to use low heat, ensuring the peanuts cook evenly without becoming raw or having a fishy taste, while also maintaining their crispness for a long time. Therefore, it's recommended to set the air fryer to a low temperature.
If your air fryer doesn't have a rotating basket or stirring function, you can manually shake the basket during roasting to reposition the peanuts, ensuring they cook evenly.
After roasting, you can leave the peanuts in the air fryer for an additional 2-3 minutes to rest, or transfer them to a basket lined with newspaper or parchment paper. Once cooled, the peanuts will be easy to peel and will stay crispy for a long time.
